Materials suitable for processing

What can you cut and engrave on a Dual-source laser machine?

The co2 laser system is a very versatile laser and works well with wood, acrylic, plastic, glass, marble, and much more.

However, what Co2 systems do not have is the ability to engrave in-depth metals, which is where the additional feature of dual-source (fiber and co2) laser comes into play. You’re able to use the fiber laser to engrave materials such as metals, steel, aluminium, copper etc.

A full list of the materials which are safe to process can be found here.

How does a laser cutter work?

A laser machine works by directing a high voltage current through a laser tube source ( either metal or glass ) before reflecting it off a series of mirrors and finally through to the focal lens. After being directed at the material, which will then either vaporizes away the material leaving an edge with a high-quality surface finish, or, depending on power and speed outputs, etch or engrave a specific design, typically onto materials such as plastics, woods, or in some cases, metal - View our full list of the materials which are safe to process can be found here.

What software do I need to run a laser machine?

This ultimately depends on the control system in your laser machine. But here at Focused Laser Systems, we recommend using Lightburn to run your laser machine if you can. However, you can also use free software’s such as RDWorks with your Ruida control system.

Haven't heard of these software’s before? Don't worry, all our laser machines are provided with software, and we also offer onsite machine and software training even if you don’t have one of our machines! And as standard across the entire Vision laser range, you also get lifetime technical support for that continued peace of mind.
