FAQ’s

  • The curvature of the spherical objects presents a challenge as CO2 lasers require a consistent focal point for precision—any deviation from this focal point results in a loss of engraving quality.

However, at Focused Laser Systems, all our Vision laser machines come with the added option to include a rotary attachment, enabling you to engrave with precision on cylindrical items and expand the scope of your creative or commercial projects.

  • With all our laser systems, we're able to offer the added option to upgrade your laser tube.

Upgrading your laser tube will allow you to cut thicker materials and reduce processing time.

    View laser tube upgrade option.

  • All our Vision Laser Systems have a range of built-in safety features, including:

    • Lid interlock sensor to prevent the tube from firing when open

    • Key locked cabinets and doors for extra safety

    • Water chiller safety circuit to ensure the laser tube doesn’t get damaged

    • Emergency stop button to stop the machines operation immediately if required

As such, our CO2 lasers have been classified by the UK Health and Safety Executive as having a class 1 rating, making our machines the ideal choice for use in schools, colleges, and universities.

  • Although operating a CO2 laser system may initially seem daunting, the process is relatively simple. After installing and configuring the alignment of your laser machine, our technicians will provide you with a comprehensive 1:1 training session covering:

    Operational Training

Our engineers will cover how to operate your laser machine, including understanding the control panel, setting up your materials, and focusing your optics.

    Maintenance Training

Regular maintenance is essential to ensure your laser machine remains in optimal working condition. Our engineers will go through routine cleaning tasks, the alignment of the optics, and provide a thorough explanation of each component and its function.

    Software Training

Our technicians will guide you through the process of preparing your files and instruct you on how to direct your laser machine to cut, engrave, or score specific parts of your design. We'll also advise you on the appropriate speed and power settings to achieve your desired outcome.

We fully appreciate you aren't going to become an expert overnight (well, hopefully), which is why all our laser machines are provided with lifetime technical support. So, if you ever have a question or need help, we're only a phone call or message away.

  • A CO2 laser is a versatile tool capable of processing a wide range of non-metallic materials ranging from glass to acrylic, wood, stone, fabrics, leather, paper, and cardboard, to name a few.

  • The lifespan of a laser tube varies depending on the power rating, usage, and maintenance. However, on average, a CO2 laser tube can last between 2 to 5 years.

Laser tubes with proper care and moderate use often reach the upper end of this scale, ensuring longevity and consistent performance. Regular maintenance, including cleaning and alignment, can significantly extend a laser tube's lifespan.

Check out our blog, where we have a range of handy tips on how to prolong the life of your laser tube.

  • You'll first want to consider the materials you're looking to process. If you're interested in laser cutting and engraving non-metallic materials like glass, acrylic, wood, and stone, a Co2 laser is an excellent choice.

Alternatively, we recommend our dual-source laser machines for those seeking the versatility to process both metallic and non-metallic materials.

You should also consider the size and shape of the materials you plan to process to ensure that your laser cutter's bed size is large enough to fit the largest piece you intend to work with.

Additionally, you'll want to consider the power level of your laser tube (measured in watts), with higher-wattage tubes having the ability to cut or engrave thicker materials faster than lower-wattage tubes.

When choosing a suitable laser cutting machine, various factors should guide your decision, all of which we've explored in our comprehensive laser cutter buying guide. Or why not give us a call?

  • This ultimately depends on the control system in your laser machine. But here at Focused Laser Systems, we recommend using Lightburn to run your laser machine if you can. However, you can also use free software’s such as RDWorks with your Ruida control system.

Haven't heard of these software’s before? Don't worry, all our laser machines are provided with software, and we also offer onsite machine and software training even if you don’t have one of our machines! And as standard across the entire Vision laser range, you also get lifetime technical support for that continued peace of mind.
